Hunter Walking Trails

Hunters are a significant user of the Price County Forest.  The majority of those hunters pursue whitetail deer and ruffed grouse.  The intensity of habitat management for both species has affected timber sale design and road density.  In the early 1980’s the Holy Cross Grouse Area was created for intensive grouse habitat management.  Subsequent areas in Camp 5, Rock Creek, and Kennan were created to provide improved opportunities to manage wildlife habitat, timber production, and hunter access.  The Ruffed Grouse Society helped plan and fund these developments.
