Preserving Price
County's Farmland...
The
Farmland Preservation Program (FPP) provides property tax relief to farmers
and protects Wisconsin Farmland through local land use planning and soil
conservation practices. Property tax relief is provided to farmers whose land
is either under exclusive agricultural zoning or under a Farmland
Preservation Program Agreement.
In Price County, 67 landowners have Farmland Preservation Agreements with the
Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Twenty-six farmers
claimed tax credits totaling $13,281 and averaged $511 in tax credit each.
The Price County Land Conservation Department is required to monitor at least
25% of the participants each year to measure conservation plan compliance. In
2000, status reviews were made on 25 farms and program assistance was
provided to 8 participants.
