PRICE COUNTY

Highway Commissioner

 

The Price County Highway Department currently has an opening for the position of Highway Commissioner  This is an exempt, non-represented position that is a responsible for the planning and directing of all work performed by the Highway Department.  This position involves responsibility for the construction and maintenance of all highways, roads, and bridges.  The work is performed under the policy and direction of the Highway Committee and Price County Board of Supervisors as set forth by State Statutes and County ordinances.  Starting salary is $51,209 - $57,054.

 

This position is expected to be part of the on-call Winter Maintenance schedule and should expect to work nights, weekends and holidays especially during the Winter Maintenance season.

 

Minimum Qualifications for this position are:

 

Ø  Possess a high-school diploma, GED or equivalent

Ø  Graduation from college, preferably supplemented by courses in civil and highway engineering or equivalent training and experience,

Ø  5 to 7 years’ experience in the planning and supervision of road construction programs or operations, and experience in administering a highway construction and maintenance program, or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Ø  At least 3 years’ personnel management experience to include assigning of duties, work schedules, performance reviews and assessing training needs.

Ø  Ability to appropriately assign priorities to accomplish the department’s work in the most efficient manner possible.

Ø  Ability to prepare, monitor and adhere to departmental budget

Ø  Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively both verbally and in writing and the ability to do public speaking

Ø  A valid WI driver’s license and commercial driver’s license (CDL) with A, B, C, D and N classes

Ø   Will be part of on-call Winter Maintenance Schedule

Ø  Access to a reliable, insured vehicle meeting Price County Coverage Standards

Forest and Parks Administrator

 

The Price County currently has an opening for the position of Forest and Parks Administrator.  This is a full time exempt, non-represented high level management position in the Forestry and Parks Department and is responsible for the administration, direction and supervision of all policies, budgets, programs, functions and staff of the Forestry and Parks Department.  This position is also expected to be a working supervisor who spends a significant portion of their time in field work.

 

The primary focus of this position is the Forest programs for sustainability to provide revenue for Price County Government while also satisfying ecological and social-economic needs of the present and future generations of Price County residents.  The secondary focus of this position shall be the County Parks programs and recreational trails within Price County.  Starting annual salary for the position is $48,609 - $54,163.

 

Minimum Qualifications for this position are:

 

Ø  Possess a high-school diploma, GED or equivalent

Ø  Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry with minimum of four to seven years’ experience in forest administration and management

Ø  At least three years’ supervisory experience in personnel management

Ø  Experience in preparing, monitoring and adhering to Departmental Budget

Ø  Experience in park and recreational trail management to include design and maintenance

Ø  Experience in building relationships with various groups of people

Ø  Experience in Public Speaking

Ø  Class D Driver’s license and CDL or the ability to obtain CDL within 6 months of employment

Elderly Benefits Specialist

 

The Price County currently has an opening for the position of Elderly Benefits Specialist in the Department of Health and Human Services Aging Unit.  This is a part-time (35 hours/wk), represented, non-exempt position responsible for providing information, referral, assistance, counseling, representation and advocacy in matters of public benefits to county residents age 60 and older.  Work requires a substantial level of independent decision making within established policies and procedures.  Position is the community level provider for the State of Wisconsin Legal Assistance/Benefit Specialist Program and provides services through coordination with other governmental agencies (state, regional, and community) and is based in the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC).  Wage for the position is $15.60 per hour, less 5% for the first 6 months of employment.

 

Minimum Qualifications for this position are:

 

Ø  Possess a high-school diploma, GED or equivalent

Ø  Bachelor’s degree in a health or human services related field, preferred; or

Ø  License to practice as a Registered Nurse in Wisconsin pursuant to s. 441.06 Stats; or

Ø  With the granting of a waiver by the Bureau of Aging and Disability Resources, a combination of education and experience that is comparable to a Bachelor’s degree and  provides the candidate with the knowledge, skills and ability required to perform responsibilities of the position; and

Ø  Minimum 2 years’ experience working with at least one of the client populations of the Aging and Disability Resource Center  

Ø  Ability to complete the State’s Benefit Specialist training within 6 months of assignment

Ø  Valid driver’s license and reliable, vehicle insured  to county’s requirement

Nutrition Site Manager – DHHS

 

Price County has an opening for Nutrition Site Manager in the Department of Health and Human Services - Aging Unit.  This is a moderately-complex part-time (16 - 19 hours per week) food-service position responsible for the administration and meal service activities of the Phillips meal site in Price County.  Responsibilities include: accurate estimation of number of meals required daily; ordering of meals from contracted food purveyor; setting up meal site and serving meals to congregate and home-delivery customers; clean up of site according to proper sanitation code; recruiting, scheduling, and directing site volunteers; accurate and timely completion of daily, weekly and monthly reports.  This is a non exempt, non represented position with a starting wage of $9.24 per hour.

 

Minimum qualifications for this position are:

 

Ø  High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

Ø  Attainment of Sanitation Training Certification within 1 year of employment

Ø  Knowledge of the process of aging and how it affects individuals

Ø  Skill in communicating well with adult and elderly populations

Ø  Knowledge of Community and Human Service Programs

Ø  Ability to compute accurately and compile data correctly

Ø  Knowledge of safe food handling practices

Ø  Knowledge of safe and proper food service techniques

Ø  Skill in organizing multiple tasks to accomplish work according to priority

Ø  Ability to frequently lift 20 pounds.

Aging Unit Supervisor - DHHS

 

The Price County currently has an opening for the position of Aging Unit Supervisor in the Department of Health and Human Services.  This is a full time, non-represented exempt position responsible for administrative functions of the Aging Unit, including, but not limited to: prepare and monitor budget; assign and supervise work of unit staff; organize and facilitate advisory and support groups; procure and monitor contracts; research and make application for needed programs and grants; and develop, implement and monitor grant and program work plans.   Salary for the position is $40,768 - $45,448.

 

Minimum Qualifications for this position:

  1. Ø  Bachelor’s degree in Human Service or Related Field with focus on Gerontology and at least four (4) years managerial experience or combination of education and work experience to provide equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the position

Ø  Food Manager License (State DOH) for Restaurant Management

Ø  Two years computer experience including proficiency in word processing and data base management

Ø  Experience in recruiting and retaining volunteers

Ø  Experience in public speaking and presentations

Ø  Skill in organizing and prioritizing work

Ø  Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Ø  Ability to maintain confidential information

Ø  Ability to compute accurately and compile data correctly

Ø  Ability to work flexible hours, performing occasional evening or weekend work

Deputy County Clerk – Fiscal Assistant

           

Price County has an opening for Deputy County Clerk – Fiscal Assistant As a Deputy Clerk this position acts as a back-up for County Clerk responsibilities.  In addition, this position is responsible for a variety of fiscal and clerical responsibilities that provide support to the Clerk’s Office and the Budget and Accounting Manager.  Duties include but are not limited to:   Processing departments’ vouchers for payment ensuring accurate coding, authorization and data entry, maintaining vendor W9 and insurance liability files, processes payroll withholding checks, maintaining department records, providing customer service to public by service at the counter and/or by phone, preparing vouchers and reports for Executive/Finance Committee and performing other duties as assigned.

 

This is a .50 FTE non-exempt, represented position working an average of 18 hours a week with an hourly wage of $15.07, less 5% for the first six months of employment. Defined hours will be Tues and Thurs 9:00 – 2:00, Wed. 12:00 – 4:30 and Monday or Friday 12:30-4:30 depending on the week and the workload.  Hours will need to be flexible to cover any hours M-F 8:00 – 4:30.

 

Minimum qualifications for this position are:

 

  • Graduation from high school or GED.

  • Minimum of three years office experience with at least two years’ experience working with accounting principles, preferably in a local government environment or:

  • Any combination of education and experience to be equivalent to above listed requirements.

  • Training and experience in computer software programs involving word processing, spreadsheet applications, database management and basic accounting principles.

  • A high level of computer skills.

  • Must be proficient at 10-key, with a minimum score of 10,500 keystrokes/hr or better.

  • Must be available to work evenings on election night and attend necessary training.

  • Required to take an oath of confidentiality and be bondable.

  • Reliable personal vehicle for business use, insured in accordance with County policy.
