PUBLIC HEALTH SUPERVISOR/HEALTH OFFICER

Price County has an opening for Public Health Supervisor/Health Officer within the Department of Health and Human Services.  Position is responsible for functioning as the County Health Officer and for administering Public Health programs and services in accordance with Wisconsin state statute 251, related administrative codes and state/county contracts. Day to day administrative duties and assigned work includes, but is not limited to: prepare and monitor budget; assign and supervise work of unit staff; procure and monitor contracts including the Animal Control Contract; research and make application for needed programs and grants; develop, implement, and monitor grant and program work plans; and establish and maintain professional relationships with supervisor, board, colleagues, staff and community.  Position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Health and Human Services.

 

This is a FT represented, exempt position with an Established Salary of $55,436.  Starting salary is 5 – 15% less than actual salary and the employee will move to the actual established salary of the position once they have successfully completed the required one year probationary period. Employees serve a 12 month probationary period. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the target area. 

 

Minimum qualifications to apply for this position are:

 

·         A bachelor’s degree from a nursing program approved by the national professional nursing education accrediting organization or from a nursing program accredited by the board of nursing, either of which shall include preparation in public health nursing

·         Three (3) years administrative and/or supervisory experience in a full-time position with a public health agency including responsibility for a communicable disease prevention and control program

·         Skill in planning, analyzing, organizing, developing and prioritizing public health services, including those necessary during episodes of natural or man-made disasters

·         Ability to provide effective leadership and to plan and direct the work of others

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective, respectful, working relationships with clients, coworkers, other agencies and departments and the public

·         Ability to apply the laws of confidentiality appropriately

·         Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing

·         Current Wisconsin license to practice as a registered professional nurse

·         Valid  driver’s license, reliable vehicle, insured to county-required limits 

  • Reliable personal vehicle for business use, insured in accordance with County policy.

 

The selection process for this position may include an employment history evaluation, a personal interview and a pre-employment physical, including drug screening.
