MEETING MINUTES
Date: January 18, 2011
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Place: Airport Terminal; N1205 Airport Rd, Phillips, WI
Meeting called to order by Chair Larry Palecek at 1:00 p.m.
Roll Call: Jay Janssen, Ron Kardas, Larry Palecek, Jim Robb. Absent: Joe Rasmussen. Also present: Chris Hallstrand.
1:00 pm Public Hearing on proposed petition to the Secretary of Transportation for Airport Improvement Aid declared open, a summary of which was duly noticed and published in The Phillips Bee newspaper. No comments. Public hearing left open for remainder of the Airport Committee meeting to allow for possible public comment.
1. Approve December 15, 2010 meeting minutes: Motion Kardas/Robb to approve the minutes of the December 15, 2010 meeting as presented. Motion carried.
2. Vouchers; Revenue & Expenditures: Motion Janssen/Kardas to approve vouchers as presented totaling $516.74. Motion carried.
3. Resolution Petitioning the Secretary of Transportation for Airport Improvement Aid: Moved to after item #8.
4. Fuel Farm Upgrade: Tank replacement and upgrade schedule for 2013. Notice from Zurich Insurance Company that the insurance on the underground tanks is being cancelled. Motion Janssen/Robb to approve contracting with Release Guard for tank insurance with a $5,000 deductible at a premium of $2,993. Motion carried.
5. Ag Lease: A request was obtained to farm the Mentol property. Chris will obtain more information and report at next committee meeting.
6. Department Cell Phone: Motion Janssen/Robb to authorize a $200 payment to Chris Hallstrand for county use of his personal cell phone until a county cell phone policy is implemented. Motion carried.
7. Review and Sign New Airport Layout Plan (ALP): Motion Kardas/Janssen to approve the ALP as presented. Motion carried.
8. Manager’s report:
a. Airport expansion project update. FAA paperwork is being processed.
b. Airport operations. Update by Chris Hallstrand. Brian Ernst, new Airport Operations Technician, was introduced.
Public hearing declared closed at 2:17 p.m.
Resolution Petitioning the Secretary of Transportation for Airport Improvement Aid: Motion Robb/Kardas to approve the resolution and forward to County Board for approval. Motion carried.
9. Set date and time for next meeting: To be set at future time.
10. Adjourn: Motion Robb/Janssen to adjourn meeting at 2:25 p.m. Motion carried.
