Price County Zoning Committee Meeting Minutes of March 13, 2008

Price County Normal Building—UWEX Conference Rooms A & B

 

The meeting was called to order at 9:02 a.m. by Chairperson Leona DeRemer.  Members present were Leona DeRemer, Richard Kelnhofer, Elvis Presley, Bob Rogalla and Jim Robb. Staffs present included: Zoning Administrator Kevin Krause and Assistant Zoning Administrator Amanda McMeekin.  Others included: Carla Cummings and Jim Cummings

 

Motion by Presley / Robb to approve minutes of the February 14, 2008 meeting.  All ayes.  Motion carried.

 

Motion by Presley / Kelnhofer to approve the Finance Report and expenditures for February 2008. All ayes.  Motion carried. 

 

 

 

Discussion and/or Action Items

 

Public Hearings:

 

Motion by Presley / Rogalla to approve the Conditional Use Permit filed by James E. Cummings for the purpose of operating a gravel pit on property located within part of the NW1/4 SW1/4 Section 24, Township 37N, Range 2E, Town of Emery.   All ayes.  Motion carried.      

      

          

Land Divisions/CSM Review/Plat Review

 

Motion by Kelnhofer / Presley to table the Land division filed by Albert Simpson on behalf of Bernard Kubisiak to create 3 lots located in the SW ¼ NE ¼, Section 13, Township 37 North, Range 2 West, Town of Elk, until DOA approval is received.  All ayes.  Motion carried.

 

 

Miscellaneous Items

1.         Correspondence/Public Comment.         

o        Discussion of developing a new handout in conjunction with UW Extension and the Land Conservation Department regarding land use, similar to the booklet distributed in Langlade County.

o        Discussion on department staff developing reports for realtors on parcels which are for sale that would list information on a parcel for a potential buyer, a fee would be associated with this report.

o        Richard Kelnhofer stated that he received a phone call from Century 21 Realty regarding interest in the county parcels listed on Solberg Lake.

o        All other correspondence and public comment was documented in the monthly report.

 

2.         Discussion and/or action on enforcement cases as follows:

·   Lyle Baars          

o        Discussion on the March 31st hearing date.

·   Joe France.

o        Discussion.

·   Lorenzo Thompson

o        Discussion on the May 28th jury trial date.

 

 

3.         Motion by Kelnhofer / Presley to table the action of correcting the legal description for the Tim Savino rezone until the next Zoning Committee meeting to allow sufficient time for the department to develop a resolution suitable with Corp. Counsel.  All ayes.  Motion carried.

 

4.         The Committee discussed the Martin and Joan Otruba project located on Solberg Lake in the Town of Worcester.

 

5.         The Committee opened bids submitted for a new vehicle.  Bids included:

o        V&H – a full size Ford F-150 with an 8’ bed.

o        Warga Chevrolet – a full size Chevrolet.

o        Phillips Ford – a full size Ford F-150 with either an 8’ bed or 6.5’ bed.

 

Motion by Rogalla / Presley to table the decision on the bids so that each bid can be looked over in detail to determine which bid is the most ideal.  All ayes.  Motion carried.

 

6.         Staff Report.

o        Staff will be attending 2 training sessions (Wausau and Rhinelander) for POWTS continuing education credits, and also the WCCA Spring Conference in April.

o        The Department will be holding a meeting on March 26th to assist non-metallic mining operators in developing reclamation plans and determining financial assistance.

 

7.         The next Zoning Committee meeting will be held Thursday, April 10, 2008.
