WELCOME TO THE TOWN OF ELK

Our township is a scenic area located in central Price County just west of the City of Phillips. One may travel into our area by three different County Roads, "W", "F" and "S". You may also enter into our township by some of our town roads, Carpenter Creek Road, Dama Road, and Storms Road. We maintain  49 miles of town roads which lead into County land, Recreational areas, Long Lake, Wilson Flowage, Grassy Lake, Soo Lake, and the Elk and South Fork of the Flambeau Rivers. Our population is around 988 full time residents and increases in the summer with our summer residents who enjoy our area away from the run-of-the-mill city life and who enjoy the quite and relaxing summer months away from the south for those who are retired.

Town Town Government consists of:

Town Chairman: Al Barkstrom  Supervisors: Jim Rutherford & Daniel Meives, who handle the care and upkeep of our town roads, signs, any type of road construction, flood control, and emergency situations.

Barbara Ramey, Town Clerk, is responsible for the day to day operation of the office with paying bills, reports, setting up meetings, handling inquiries, sending out invoices, elections etc.  townofelk@pctcnet.net

Karen Meives, Treasurer  handles the collection of all monies due the township, collection of 1st half real estate taxes and all personal property taxes, dog licenses and all banking requirements. townofelk2@pctcnet.net

Ed O'Meara, Assessor eaomeara@charter.net  places assessed values on property. 715-762-5530

We have a beautiful town hall which is a remodeled school house and is available to residents for rental for parties, showers, weddings, etc.

There are facilities at the town hall to handle all  recycling items and solid waste disposals, brush etc.

There is access via boat landings at each of the lakes in our community. The town of Elk and the Department of Natural Resources each have their own boat landings.  Our water ways are a joy to our citizens and are enjoyed by many visitors. Town of ELK has many miles of snowmobile routes, a golf course, golf driving range, various supper clubs, local pubs for those who want to tell their fish stories, and hunting experiences. We have a few farms that are in operation,  many resorts and a couple of camp grounds to accommodate those who want to enjoy our area and waterways.  We have plenty of fishermen, hunters, snowmobilers, and those who just enjoy the outdoors come and visit our area.

For further information or assistance you may want in regards to our township, please contact our Town Hall at 715-339-2877.  We have voice mail so if you don't receive an answer on the phone, leave a message and our town clerk will get back to you or direct you to the correct individual.
