ElkWELCOME TO THE TOWN OF ELK Our township is a scenic area located in central Price County just west of the City of Phillips. One may travel into our area by three different County Roads, "W", "F" and "S". You may also enter into our township by some of our town roads, Carpenter Creek Road, Dama Road, and Storms Road. We also maintain 49 miles of town roads which lead into County land, Recreational areas, Long Lake, Wilson Flowage, Grassy Lake, Soo Lake, and the Elk and South Fork of the Flambeau Rivers. Our population is around 1203 full time residents and increases in the summer with our summer residents who enjoy our area away from the run-of-the-mill city life and who enjoy the quite and relaxing summer months away from the south for those who are retired. Our Town Government is handled by Joe Strand, Chairman; Daniel Meives, Supervisor; and Douglas Rasmussen, Supervisor; who handle the care and upkeep of our town roads, signs, any type of road construction, flood control, and emergency situations. Barbara Ramey, Clerk, is responsible for the day to day operation of the office with paying bills, reports, setting up meetings, handling inquiries, sending out invoices, etc. Karen Meives, Treasurer handles the collection of all monies due the township, collection of taxes and all banking requirements. We have a beautiful town hall which is a remodeled school house and is available to residents on a rental basis for parties, showers, weddings, etc. We have facilities to handle all of the recycling items and solid waste disposals, brush etc. We have access to all of the lakes in our community with boat landings by each, with the town and the Department of Natural Resources each having their own boat landings. Our water ways are a joy to our citizens and are enjoyed by many visitors. Our Township has many miles of snowmobile routes, a golf course, golf driving range, various supper clubs, local pubs for those who want to tell their fish stories, and hunting experiences. We have a few farms that are in operation, many resorts and a couple of camp grounds to accommodate those who want to enjoy our area and waterways. We have plenty of fishermen, hunters, snowmobilers, and those who just enjoy the outdoors come and visit our area.
